A wonderful getaway
100 % of users found this review helpful
My family has camped here for years. The lakes offer some good fishing. There is some good hiking trails in the area, our favorite is the hike to hidden falls. The staff are very helpful, and polite. We always buy the kids some ice cream from the store. Overall it is a nice place to relax.

Biking is amazing...rangers not so much
75 % of users found this review helpful
We had a phenomenal time biking and enjoying ourselves until the ranger came around and would so rudely disturb us with all of the things that look wrong on our campsite. They were not welcoming and quick to make our stay unpleasant. We will visit again, but be aware...the rules of the park seem to contradict and they are not always clear. But don't you worry...the rangers will make sure you are in the wrong and fine you for it.

Staff are so rude
50 % of users found this review helpful
unfortunatly, this is the only close place Cheyenne has to camp, fish, boat. Its too bad that ego's have gotten in the way. The staff is so rude - they have ruined the place. Same for Hawk Springs - the ranger has nothing better to do than drive by the 10 camping sites over and over and over again, pointing out the littlest issues. Im not the only resident that feels this way. Pretty place to camp but take your chances dealing with the "Power" of the park rangers. - most are old, grouchy and need to retire

we went up there with some friends. we reserved a group campsite. there aren't a lot of trees up there. most of the campsites were out in the open on the high dusty plains. the lake is very small. there might be a very few campsites that offer shade and a little privacy. good luck getting one.

Great riding, Poor staff
50 % of users found this review helpful
The mountain biking here is outstanding and our campsite was very nice, right on the water. Unfortunately the security staff were very unprofessional. They were quick to point out any minor infraction of the rules and did so in a very rude manner. If it wasn't for the staff we would rate this location very positively.

beautiful setting
88 % of users found this review helpful
We enjoy camping here every summer. The lake is beautiful along with the surrounding terrain. Wildlife is abundant. Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, playgrounds, and archery are available. I wish there were more shade trees in the reservable site areas. These sites appear fairly level, but really aren't. Of course, the unreservable sites are worse. The new snack shack owners are very friendly and accommodating. We needed shampoo and conditioner, which they don't sell. The owner sold us her newly bought shampoo and conditioner, right out of the shoppping bag. Way to go!! Everyone seems friendly. The gate staff this year appears to be new, so they didn't have great knowledge on how things work, but will come with experience, as with any job. We are losing some of the pines to the pine beetles. I do like the security trucks coming by periodically during the day. There are handicap facilities available (sites, restrooms, fishing docks). The restrooms and firepits are cleaned regularly. We have never had any problems with other campers. Nice place.

Beautiful Setting
90 % of users found this review helpful
Many campsites around the reservoirs. The staff was helpful and courteous. Breezy during the day and cool at night. Plenty of fish to catch, though they are a little small. Great area for kids...hiking, fishing, lots of birds. A small boat or raft works well here. Plan for wind, after all, this is Wyoming. Breeze helps keep the bugs away. Ther are some handicapped areas, watched them catch some fish...what fun. Restrooms are clean, and actually had TP. Water turns to glass in the evening...very peaceful and relaxing.

Great Stop on way to Yellowstone
100 % of users found this review helpful
We stopped here on the way to Yellowstone and on the way back. It was a real simple in and out. Was not to far from I-80 yet far enough to not hear any of the noise from the interstate. It also has a great hiking trail that takes you to an over look of the lake. If you need to find an cheap spot to sleep on your way to or from Grand Teton/Yellowstone you wont regret stopping at Curt Gowdy.
